Ethics, Barrister's Ball, and the Disney Store

What a whirlwind weekend... John took the ethics portion of the Bar Exam Saturday morning, while I took Isabella to the grocery store and to the playground.  She was so funny at the grocery store.  Our trip only took 40 minutes (a record for me with a toddler) but she wanted out of the shopping cart by the time we were in the dairy section.  I carried her to the register but when I tried to put her in the front of the cart, let's just say, the tantrum that was starting wouldn't have been conducive to unloading and paying for a cart of groceries.  So, I decided to let her sit in the back of the cart and help me unload.  The unloading was quite funny for the onlookers in line with us.  Isabella loves to help.  She helped me unload the cart which was mostly produce, and she was tossing it on the conveyer belt so hard, I was sure it would all be bruised when we got it home.  She would throw a bag of grapes up there, and I be trying to pick up the ones that spilled out while she would be throwing the bell peppers.  She even started getting pens out of my purse.  So, we were probably pretty entertaining.  Isabella really enjoyed the playground afterwards but again came the tantrum when it was time to head home for lunch.

Saturday evening, John and I went for a nice evening out to La Dolce Vita and then to the Barrister's ball at Old Car Heaven.  This huge warehouse type building downtown with beautiful old cars from the 50's and 60's parked around the room.  They had a great band, but the chocolate fountain was the highlight for me.  We really enjoyed the chance to dress up and get out for the evening.  We don't do it often enough!  We had a great night.

I think if Isabella could tell you about her evening, she would have been quite happy too.  She had 7 babysitters (ie. 7 people to entertain) including my aunt and uncle, their son Matt and his wife Kasey, my dad and Karen, and my grandmother.  They went to the Galleria, to Build-a-Bear, the Disney store, the food court for dinner and on the carousel.  I'm told that Isabella didn't really "get" Build-a-Bear, but when they let her play in the pile of stuffed animals at the Disney store she really hit her stride.  I hope she doesn't think she's doing that everytime!  She also enjoyed the carousel, especially examining the ceiling to see how everything worked.  I think she was pretty much exhausted when she got home, and I know she had a blast. We're really blessed to have so many people that love her.
